Soon Montessori Will Be Back At The FairSince 2015 the Minnesota Montessori Network has created and run an interactive booth at the Minnesota State Fair. It's like an accessible Glass Classroom (without the glass!). Our sought-after haven for the young fairgoers and their families is located in the Education Building of the Minnesota State Fairgrounds. There is no better investment to connect Minnesotans with Montessori and Montessorians with Minnesotans than this high-energy, high-reach interactive Montessori classroom exhibit for all ages! Our fans still write to us, hopeful for our return!
During the COVID-19 Global Pandemic, MNMN declined to participate at the fair for the safety of children and our volunteers. Just as we had to wait to be offered a space at the fair originally, surrendering our space during the pandemic means we are waiting again. We look forward to returning to the fair when space is offered to us once again. |
YOU are the Magic of Montessori at the State Fair!
Montessori hopes to return for our 6th year to the Minnesota State Fair in 2025. After five years away due to the COVID-19 global pandemic, we are looking forward to reconnecting 2 million Minnesotans to Montessori at our favorite event!
We will serve thousands of Minnesota children, families, and educators. But, it won't happen without 150 volunteers!
To meet our contract with the State Fair and be invited back, we must staff the booth 12 hours per day for 12 days! Luckily, this is great fun. Volunteer with friends or meet new friends. Enjoy time at the fair before or after your shift!

Individuals
This is truly The Great Minnesota Montessori Get Together! It takes 150 people to operate the Montessori State Fair booth and we have a splendid time together doing so! You will meet former students and teachers, prospective families, legislators and agency representatives, and other interested educators. You can sign up as an individual or with friends or colleagues. You can sign up for one shift or multiple shifts in one day. You can sign up for one day or more than one day! You can even make your own fun group like: "Great River School Alumni" or "Retired Teachers of Lake Country" or "MCM Class of 2009"!

Schools
We offer member Montessori schools the opportunity to reserve a whole day of volunteering at the fair for their community. This means the school gets to staff the booth with at least one Montessori-trained volunteer and at least 1-2 additional advocates from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. in any combination of people and shifts they prefer. This serves as super-fun school-year-kick-off community-building event and afforded a great opportunity for schools to share their stories with Minnesota families.

There were several young children who engaged with the materials and didn't want to leave when their parents told them it was time to go. One parent noted her daughter's enjoyment and commented that it would be great if school could be like the booth!”
A recently trained teacher was surprised and overjoyed to see the booth with her friends, and explain the materials and her career choice to them. Seeing this person at the beginning of her career as a Montessori guide, so full of purpose and passion, was invigorating!
